'Happy Little Santa' Ornament Set
United States Postal Service - Holiday 2004 Christmas Stamp Ornaments
Made in Germany especially for Blümchen
Has it really been 20 years already? It doesn't
seem possible so many years have gone by
since these Santa Claus figurals
were chosen
to be featured for the official Christmas 2004
postage stamps of the U.S. Postal Service.
Back in the early 2000's we were contacted
by
photographer Sally Andersen-Bruce, who's
responsible for many of the Post Office's most
popular stamp designs. She was introduced to
our ornaments by a friend, and so made a trip
down from Connecticut to visit our our atelier.
We still remember so clearly Sally holding the
boxed set of little Santa ornaments and saying
"I think these will work!". She then asked if
Diane could repaint the Santa faces so they
would have more detail on the stamps. Diane,
who is a graduate of the Rhode Island School
of Design with a BFA in Fine Arts, instantly
said it would be absolutely no problem at all -
and that is the story of how these wonderful
Santa Claus stamps came to be!
